Skills USA - Machining Contest

Lake Central Modern Machining students competed on Saturday, Feb. 23, against Porter County Career and Tech Center students in written and performance tests to determine state qualifiers for the Skills/USA contest in April. The winners of the contest were as follows:
1st Place – Aaron Van Wormer (Portage HS)
2nd Place – Mike Zuzich (Lake Central HS)
3rd Place – Chad Payne (Morgan Twp. HS)
4th Place – Zach Hargarten (Chesterton HS)
These students will be going to Indianapolis in April for the State competition against students from all over Indiana for the right to compete at the National Skills/USA competition this summer.

 

State DECA Contest

Students competed in skill and knowledge contests against students from all over Indiana in marketing and business skills.
• Gloria Hernandez and Tonya Price 8th place Buying and Merchandising Decision Making Team,
• Randy Mantz received a medallion for reaching 85% and 8th overall in Sports & Entertainment Marketing, Andrew Price a medallion for achieving an 85% and 8th overall in Quick Serve Restaurant Management,
• Bree Thompson 7th place in Community Service Written Project. All of the students who placed are Portage HS students.
